Study in Vanity No 17 in A-Flat Major

After only completing the first page and leaving the piece "on the shelf" for months, I nearly trashed this etude, intending to start over again from scratch. But I finally sat down and listened to it a few times and decided that I wanted to salvage the lovely obligato theme if at all possible. Now that it's completed, I am quite pleased with the results. It’s three minutes long (5 pages, the longest of the etudes) and requires a virtuoso level of technique to play (sharing of both melody and obligato between hands, arpeggios and syncopated rhythms...this is among the most challenging of my etudes). This lovely nocturne will try the pianist's mental skill.
